Introducing Jaycee (born Shonubi Olanrewaju Joshua) a Nigerian recording artist, songwriter, and performer, based in the UK. He recently released his PROMO single entitled “BullDozer” produced by Afrisounds & Remedix Music Pro and is released another single Kerewa on 03 February 2014.
Born on 23rd April in Lagos, Nigeria, Jaycee was brought up in the suburbs of Lagos where he gained interest in singing. Motivated to express his talent to the masses, Jaycee joined the choir where he and his friend managed to put together a teenage boy band named JAMEX which consisted of him and his friends of the musical interest. JAMEX managed to release two singles as well as, performed “Jolly” and “Jofunmi” on a number of occasions. But his journey was only just warming up, for Jaycee exposure has always been his aim. Even as a musician he somehow managed to get time to Deejay not just for the love of music but also to experience change. A big fan of fiesta, parties and celebrations, Jaycee used his hobby as a trade by doing DJ sets in selected nightclubs in Lagos where he also gained a following. A real believer in achievement, Jaycee’s journey to the UK was never an easy one, but somewhat a blessing. By respecting his surroundings and meeting the right people, Jaycee managed to expose his talent to people he believed in and who were willing to support such amazing talent. Jaycee is yet to be heard internationally and is causing a stir internally in and around London town!
Signed to Afrisounds & Remedix Music Pro, Jaycee has been working on a number of tracks to start his march, doing collaborations with a number of Afrobeats UK scene. Jaycee has also worked with Showa Shins, Sonaman, Mazi Chuks, Kida Kudz, MoeLogo, with production work done by OY Productions and Skob Original, just to name a few.
Jaycee’s brand new single, KEREWA launched on 3 February 2014 and we are excited to watch him rise to an international level by promoting him here in Kenya, a country he would love to visit and perform. You can listen to his single here:
